Highland Way
Saturday Sept 20 4:00pm - 4:55pm Highland Way is California's newest Celtic music sensation performing at numerous festivals, Burns Suppers, concerts... and Highland Games. With their superb blend of vocals, instrumentation, and unique arrangements, Highland Way is one of the most acclaimed on the Southern California circuit. Members of the group have appeared on local and national television, (including The Donny & Marie Show) as well as enjoyed numerous and enthusiastic write-ups in various print media. Hailing from Glasgow, Scotland, the charismatic lead vocalist Brian Caldwell is well known for his energetic and driving rhythm guitar...and his wonderful ability to charm any crowd. Arranger, vocalist, and talented instrumentalist, Richard Gordon Heinz is the musical foundation of the band. Paul Graham Castellanos, master of an incredible array of stringed instruments, adds a vibrant cross section of sound from animated Celtic fiddle to classical guitar. Pete Connolly, the newest addition to the band, provides plenty of percussion. Having played all sorts of musical styles he has the tender, light touch, but when needed can lay it on thick and loud. Completing the band is Heloise Love. A gifted solo artist in her own right, her angelic lead vocals and sultry harmonies round out this incredible mix of musical talent. |

Trails & Rails
Saturday Sept 20 2:00pm - 2:55pm Without trains, the American interior would not have opened up when it did and our country's history would have been quite different. Without trains, the cowboy as we envision him would not exist. The railhead at Abilene was one destination for long cattle drives that helped create the legend of the American cowboy. Movies embellished that legend and gave us many of the images we still sing about, in songs that a lot of us grew up with. Walt Richards and Paula Strong, as the acoustic duo Trails & Rails, have a large repertoire of cowboy and train songs, along with standard folk, old time songs and instrumentals. New cowboy, train and folk songs continue to be written to this day. Old and new, Trails & Rails enjoys them all. Trails & Rails may also include members Bruce Huntington on bass, Ken Wilcox on vocals, guitar and autoharp and guest artist, Dave Edelman, on fiddle. |

Sara Petite & the Tiger Mountain Boys
Sunday Sept 21 3:00pm - 3:55pm Raised where wild huckleberries grow, Sara originally hails from Sumner, Washington - a tulip-farming town southeast of Seattle. She grew up riding in her Dad's seaplane and on the back of his motorcycle. Her mother raised a trio of women and a son, and gave each of them a strong backbone and sense of self. She is a modern-day June Carter with the lyrical sense of Dolly Parton. With strong roots in classic country, bluegrass and classic rock, she falls firmly under the genre of Americana. Sara's inspiration for songwriting comes from fond memories of home and her many travels throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Western and Eastern Europe. In her first songwriting competition, two of Sara's songs, Shine Some Heaven and Coming Home - advanced to the semi-finals in the 2005 International Songwriting Competition in Nashville, Tennessee, which had nearly 15,000 entries. She earned an Honorable Mention for Coming Home in the American Songwriters Magazine, and an honorable mention in the Great American Songwriter Competition with Shine Some Heaven. She has recently returned from the Great Waters Folk Festival where she was 1 of 5 finalists out of almost 400 entrants in the 2006 annual songwriting competition. She is currently a finalist in the 2006 Portland Songwriting Contest. In the last year she has played clubs in San Diego including The Ould Sod, LeStats, Tio Leo's, Belly Up and The Whistle Stop. She has also made guest appearances in Oxford, Mississippi, Los Angeles, Joshua Tree, Seattle, Washington, and Nashville, Tennessee. She has recently finished her second tour in Ireland and Netherlands, where she played in gigs in Galway, Cork, Dublin, Bray, Belfast, Miltown Milbay and Amsterdam. She has opened up for Todd Snider, Bert Jansch and the Highway 61 Revisited. |

Judy Taylor & the Wild Oats Band
Sunday Sept 21 4:00pm - 4:55pm Judy has opened shows for Doc Watson, Gary Morris, Bill Monroe, and has been featured on local television networks. She has been a regular family concert act at the San Diego Zoo, Wild Animal Park, Sea World, and many stages across the country... Judy has performed all around the country and parts of Europe, Mexico and Canada for the past 20 years. She is a powerful solo performer with a warm effervescent personality and a voice to match. Judy and her all girl band, THE WILD OATS, are an all acoustic band with excellent harmonies and personalities. Judy grew up in the back -country of East San Diego. She earned a small salary herding cattle on a working ranch then went on to training horses. It didn't take long to realize that music might be a little easier and safer than the Cow-girl life. Judy still has the presence of a country girl with a wholesome sincerity in her music. Her passion for the wild west arts show up in her concerts when she spins a fancy trick rope and lets out a Patsy Montana yodeling song. Judy now lives and works from her office and home on The STARBOUND RANCH where she raises horses and other critters. THE WILD OATS' play a variety of music from country, Cajun, Spanish, and classic rock. Her music can be called Organic Americana. Her sound is also varied with an assortment of acoustic instruments and tight harmonies. Her original songs are fun stories of true events and up beat tempos. Her show is packed with great dance tunes and audience participation. The ladies can dance, play, sing and put on quite a show! In 1998, Judy won California Song -Writer of the year award for her CD Cajun Soul. Now in the works is Judy's latest CD soon to be released fall of 2003. Again this new release will have the acoustic quality and heartfelt songs of her most recent life experiences and adventures. |
